Could you be entitled to £140 from your electricity company to help you keep warm this winter?
To be eligible for the Warm Home Discount you need to receive a means-tested benefit or tax credit or have a household income below £16,190*.
- If you receive Pension Credit, you should receive the discount automatically. The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) should have sent you a letter by December 2019 to confirm this, read this carefully as it may ask you to update some details.
- If you receive a different means-tested entitlement or have a household income of less than £16,190, you should check with your electricity supplier if they offer the discount and whether you are eligible. This information is often on their website or you could give them a call.
- If you aren’t eligible with your supplier, you may be with another supplier. Our Energy Team can help you to look at changing to a supplier that would offer it.
Some suppliers opened their scheme a while ago and are closing soon. They are limited on a first come first served basis, so what are you waiting for!
*Only some suppliers have income based criteria. You will also need to meet requirements about vulnerability in the home or high fuel bills.
