Our Interreg North-West Europe funded project in Devonport, Ham and St Budeaux is now complete.
For 18 months, our Energy Team have tirelessly provided free home visits to over 1000 households in these areas. They have undertaken thorough assessments, provided advice and installed small energy saving measures suited to the needs of each household. They made hundreds of referrals to partner support agencies, installed over 16,000 energy efficient lightbulbs, saved households an average of £300 and fitted enough draught proofing strip to run the length of Plymouth breakwater! All of the items installed and actions taken as a result of these visits is expected to, over the lifespan of the intervention, put more than £2.6m back into the hands of residents. Our trained advisors take into account people's daily challenges and offer their time to listen and support. Feedback shows that people feel listened to, are confident in the solutions and feel more in control of their lives.
The lifetime carbon savings are equivalent to the amount it takes to charge 1.4 trillion smartphones or the annual emissions of 3331 cars! Combine that with other project partners across the continent and it shows how helping to improve energy efficiency at basic levels has an impact.
Although this particular project has finished, our Energy Team are still there to help. Whatever your energy issue, wherever you live in the city, please contact us and we will help in any way we can.
