Privacy-policy
Plymouth Energy Community (PEC) is committed to being transparent, respectful, and secure when using personal information. This privacy statement explains how we handle personal data across the PEC Family and comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who We Are
The PEC Family includes a group of organisations working together to create a fair, affordable, zero carbon energy system with local people at its heart. Each organisation operates specific services or activities. A list of PEC Family organisations and their registration numbers is included at the end of this statement.
What This Statement Covers
This statement explains general matters about how we store your data, your rights, how we keep information secure, how to complain, and how we use cookies and tracking technologies. For information about how we use your personal data within specific services (such as energy advice, events, volunteering, or investment), please read the relevant service-specific privacy notice.

How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored securely using trusted platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SharePoint, and other cloud-based systems with strong security. Access is restricted to staff who need the information, and we use audit logs and user permissions to protect your data.
Data Retention
We only keep your information for as long as needed. For most projects, this means 7 years after the end of the service. For installations or measures in your home, we may keep records for up to 20 years.
Data Sharing
We may share your data with trusted partners who help us deliver services, such as software providers, subcontractors, or funders. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the ICO.
Automated Processing
Some PEC services use tools that automatically assess eligibility for grants or prioritise households most in need of support. These tools help us deliver services fairly and efficiently. You can request a human review if you are concerned about how an automated decision was made.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience, analyse usage, and customise advertising. We ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time.
We use Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics. These services may collect information about how you use our website. You can read their privacy policies online. More information about cookies is available at www.allaboutcookies.org.
