Sunlight Gathering

We commissioned Art and Energy Collective to produce a new solar artwork to help us promote the benefits of solar energy and our upcoming campaign to increase the number of rooftop solar installations in the city.

Sunlight Gathering invites people to sit, connect, and celebrate creativity and the magic of solar energy. The project sparked all sorts of conversations about the importance of solar power.  

The artwork uses interactive pads in the floor and seat to trigger lights and is charged through a unique etched recycled solar panel. Hand-crafted,   embossed decorations were co-created with members of the local community through our PEC Pals network and PEC staff. 

The design process started with gathering ideas from the public at Hope Festival in June. The finished artwork was unveiled at Union Street Party, sparking over 200 conversations about solar on that day alone.
